If you are seriously considering adopting
one of our babies you must first agree to the terms of our
contract. Our primary concern is to make sure
our kittens go to good homes where they will be loved and cared for just as
much as they are in our home. We prefer to have people interested in our
kittens come visit us. This gives you the opportunity to check us out, see
how the cats are raised and ask any questions you may have. It also gives us
the opportunity to ask you a few questions and see how you interact with the
cats. If it's not possible for you to visit we will conduct the screening
process by email and phone.

KITTEN COST AND WHAT YOU RECEIVE -
You can adopt one of our kittens for $575 plus $69.00 HST. We are a legally
registered company and unfortunately Revenue Canada has to
get their share. If we are shipping your kitten the shipping costs
would be extra. (Note to Americans - sorry,
but all funds must be in Canadian dollars).
What
you will receive .....
-
The
kitten will have been to the vet twice. Once at 8 weeks old
for an examination and his/her first 4-way
immunization vaccination. Then at 12 weeks old he/she is
examined again, gets his/her second 4-way
immunization vaccination and is also spayed or neutered. The
kitten will have also been wormed twice.
-
Samples of the food we are feeding him/her.
-
A
pictorial 4 generation pedigree on photo paper providing you have given us a
name for your kitten.
-
The
kitten's litter registration with which you can register
the kitten with the Traditional Cat Association.
-
And a
lifetime of support should you ever have any questions or
concerns about your kitten.

DEPOSITS -
Prior to
accepting a deposit from you we have a few preliminary questions we will
be asking you. We consider ourselves to be responsible, reputable
breeders and as such we are very selective about who we let adopt one of
our babies. We want to ensure as much as possible that the kitten will
be loved and cared for just as much as he/she would be if we kept
him/her here with us. Once we have determined that you can provide a suitable
home environment for one of our babies we will require a $100
deposit to hold a kitten for you. Please note - We will not reserve a kitten
in your name until we actually receive the deposit. If you are coming in person you can give
us a cheque or cash for the deposit. If you cannot make
the trip you can send us a cheque
providing there is enough time for the cheque to clear the bank before you pick up
the kitten.
If you do
on-line banking, you can easily
do an email money transfer to us through your bank. This service is
offered by all of the major banks and Credit Unions. Just go to the bill payment page on your bank's
web site and look for an Interact email money transfer link. You enter our email
address, the amount, and a security question and answer of your choosing, then click
send. Then you need to send us a separate email with the security answer spelled
exactly the same. We will
receive an email from your bank asking us to click on the name of our
bank and we are directed to our bank site. Then our bank asks us the
security question. Once we answer correctly, the funds are transferred to
our account. The process for credit unions is similar but you might have
to check with them on the correct procedure.
The last method of payment would be
by Paypal or credit card. Both of these options are available on the
Paypal web site. If you have a credit card that collects air miles, you
might want to consider this option. We do have a Paypal business account but please be advised that
we will have to charge you for the Paypal fees. On $100 the total
transaction fee is $4.00. On larger amounts the fee is 3% plus $0.80 for
the transaction. However, an email money transfer through your bank is by far the quickest
and cheapest method and gets you in line for a kitten sooner.
Please note that
your deposit is refundable at our discretion.

HOW YOUR
DEPOSIT IS MANAGED -
Our policy on
kitten deposits is that all deposits for any given kitten are recorded by
the date we receive the deposit. First deposit received gets
first choice, second deposit gets second choice and so on.
However, since we
quite often receive deposits before the kittens are born, and we have no idea of
how many girls and boys there will be, we have developed the following
method for ensuring you get your kitten as soon as possible.
If you have given
us a deposit on a kitten from a particular litter that hasn't been born
yet, your place in line is determined by the date we receive your
deposit. You will have to tell us which sex you want and what color
point you want and your deposit will be for a kitten
that matches your request.
Once the litter is
born, should we discover Mom has not provided enough kittens or in the
right sex and colour that you had wanted,
you may either choose another kitten from that litter if one is still
available or we will transfer your deposit for a kitten that matches
your request to the next litter. (We have enough queens that we can breed
at least one
queen every
month so you won't have long to wait).
Unfortunately, if
we have to move you to another litter your place in line for a kitten
will be behind any deposits we have already received for that litter. I would be happy to
explain this in greater detail if you wish. Just give us a call or send
an email.

CHOOSING YOUR
KITTEN -
This is very
important. The kittens will receive their first vaccination shots on a
Saturday. On Sunday, the next day, you must choose your kitten. This
particular date is noted on the
"Current Litters" page in the Milestone Dates information on the litter that has your
kitten. We schedule the
visits for that Sunday one hour apart starting at 10:00. Whoever has first choice of
kittens is the first appointment at 10:00, second choice is at 11:00 and
so on. This schedule is very important because I'm sure if you had third
choice you would want the people with first and second choice to hurry
up and pick theirs so you would know which one was yours. ;-)
For out-of-town
families who cannot come in person to pick their kitten - All
adopting families receive new kitten photos every 2 weeks. This shows you what
the kittens look like physically as they grow. From conversations with you we have an
idea of what personality type you're looking for and we can suggest to
you which kitten comes closest to your ideal. And, if you prefer, you
can always call us to discuss the personalities of the kittens if that
helps you with your decision. We also prefer that out-of-town families,
especially those with first choice, let us know of their choice prior to
the Sunday that the local families come to visit.

FINAL PAYMENT -
If you
have previously given us a $100 deposit, your final
payment will be $544 which includes the HST of $69. This final amount is
payable prior to your taking the kitten home. You can either wire
transfer the funds a few days before or pay in cash when you arrive. The
choice is yours.
If we are shipping
your kitten there will be additional shipping costs of course. I will
book the kittens flight within the 2 weeks prior to departure day. Once
I have the airfare amount I will email you the total costs.
We do not accept cheques for final payment. Your options are cash (preferred method),
bank money transfer or paypal. Once
final payment has been made you will need to sign the kitten contract/sales
agreement.

SHIPPING -
We will only ship a kitten within
North America. But before we ship the kitten you will
have to pay us in advance for the airfare, an airline approved carrier ($50), a
bed for the carrier ($20), our fuel and time to take the kitten to the
airport which is a 90 minute drive from our house ($40), and of
course the final payment on the kitten. Airfare within Canada
could be anywhere from $150 to $300
depending on location. Once we book the flight we will
email you the flight information as well as the total amount owing
including the
shipping costs. After we receive final payment we will email you a
signed contract marked "paid in full" and we will need you to sign it
and email it back to us.
When you receive
the kitten there will be a folder in a plastic bag under the bed. The
folder contains the signed contract, a pictorial pedigree if you have
named the kitten, the health record from our vet, a registration
certificate to register the kitten with the
Traditional Cat Association
(click the name to find out more about the TCA).
Again, we do not accept cheques for
final payment and we will not ship freight collect.

GO HOME DAY -
If you are coming
to our home to pick up your kitten -
You will need to contact us in the week prior to the date mentioned as the "go home" date on the
"Current Litters" page to set an appointment for pickup. The
preferred pickup date will always be a Saturday however if Sunday works
better for you we can do that too. BE SURE TO BRING A CAT
CARRIER when you come for your kitten. We will not let any kitten leave
our house without being in a proper carrier (no cardboard boxes).
If you cannot pick
up your kitten that weekend we can hold the kitten until you are able to
get here but, depending on the circumstances, there may be a $5 per day boarding charge starting on the
Monday following the scheduled pickup weekend.

WHEN YOU
BRING YOUR KITTEN HOME -
As part of
our contract you are obligated to take the kitten to your vet within
72 hours of purchase. This is for both our benefits. It proves to you that the kitten is in perfect
health and it protects us from unfair accusations that the
kitten was sick when it left our home. The vet visit is
also covered in our health guarantee and contract which you have
previously read and
agree to. Other than that vet visit, the
kitten will only need a checkup for teeth
cleaning at one year old and a booster shot one year after it's
last shot at 12 weeks old. (Siamese are genetically predisposed
to gingivitis and should have a professional teeth cleaning done once
a year).
You should
confine the kitten to one room of your home for a few days. Your
home is a whole new world for the kitten and it needs a few days
to get used to the sights, sounds, and smells of your home.
After 2 or 3 days you can leave the door open and let the kitten
come out when it's ready to explore its new home. After a week or so the
kitten should be comfortably running around your home like it
had always lived there. If he/she is ever suddenly frightened it
will run back to the room it first lived in because it knows
that's a safe place.
If you
have another pet, make sure all interaction between them is
supervised for the first week or so until they get used to each
other. Once you see them playing or sleeping together you'll
know it's safe to leave them together unsupervised.
